Visuelle Edition 2 Publication
Producing print for great designers is what Team do best, so when we were offered the chance to print a publication profiling a collection of top agencies we were thrilled. The latest edition of Visuelle Edition 2, designed by David Bennett, showcases in print format the best design work of the year from his highly regarded design blog.
Manchester City Annual Report
Commissioned and designed by Music, Team were pleased to produce for the third consecutive year the Annual Report for Premier League winners Manchester City Football Club. Containing 118 pages, it was printed on Naturalis Absolute White Matt and incorporates a double cover construction – with the outer wrapped over the inner in a Swiss Bind style.
Battersea Power Station Property Brochures
Team recently worked with London design agency Heavenly on the production of two promotional books for one of the capitols most prestigious property developments at Battersea Power Station.For the teaser brochure we treated a Greyboard with two layers of varnish to create a smooth concrete effect, visually similar to that of the building itself. It was printed on Munken Polar and bound using copper rivets that were chemically treated to make an exact colour match. The Residential Book was case-bound in cloth with a copper foiled plaque mounted into a debossed area on the front. The text was printed in 4 colour process plus a metallic cover ink onto Arctic Matt paper.
British Fashion Council books: Music
Team continues it’s long standing relationship with leading Manchester design agency Music and British Fashion Council by producing two new projects – the guide book for London Fashion Week (Autumn / Winter) and the book, London Collections: Men 2013.
The London Fashion Week guide book features cover illustrations by designer Manolo Blahnik on Colorplan Pristine White with a ‘pebble’ embossing. This 148 page perfect bound book was printed four colour process with black foil blocking on the cover. This is the 3rd consecutive year Team has produced the literature for this event.
The London Collections: Men book showcases Team’s full in-house services. 72 pages of text, quarter bound in red cloth, with front and back covers made from 3000 micron greyboard. The front cover is clear foil blocked and incorporates a recessed area containing a hand inserted custom pin badge. All the text pages were angle cut (replicating a key element of the event identity) to create a housing for the back of the badge.
70 Mark Lane & Carmelite Riverside brochures: dn&co.
Team have recently produced two luxury property brochures with London agency dn&co.
70 Mark Lane consists of an eight page gate-folded cover with 40 pages of text, printed four colour process with one special throughout on Naturalis Absolute White from GF Smith.
Carmelite Riverside was swiss bound using burgundy cloth and housed in an eight page cover with a large debossed area over the logo. Team’s Komori B1 printing press was ideal for this project as the job contained four colour process, two special PMS colours plus an in-line coating. All this was possible in one single pass though six ink units, plus an in-line emulsion coating. The paper for this project was Zen, also from GF Smith.
JD Sports annual report & accounts: JD Sports
Team continue to build on strong relationships with JD Sports by producing their annual report & accounts for the 4th successive year. The cover incorporates a yellow foil block on top of a solid black print and was quarter bound with yellow binding cloth.
WorkHouse literature: Scene
This Tile Collection brochure was produced in conjunction with Scene designer Gemma Fabbri as a showcase for the WorkHouse at Clerkenwell Design Week, London. Printed throughout using Team’s Indigo digital press, the cover and business cards were printed with digital white ink onto Ebony Colorplan and each cover was personalised, using a library of different tile patterns.
Baselworld exhibitions brochure: Made Thought
This Made Thought project for Baselworld highlights Team’s strength in both printing and finishing capabilities. The brochure was printed throughout on Omnia from Fenner Paper in four colour process with the cover gloss laminated and silver foil blocked.
Tip-in leaves were then die cut to diagonal shapes and printed in metallic silver onto Keaykolour Royal Blue from ArjoWiggins. It was bound using blue coloured stitching wire – and to add a further level of complexity, the brochure contained four different language versions.
Team digital printing guide now available
The new Team digital printing guide, designed by Design Project combines our high quality digital print with a whole range of our in-house production processes. Advance demand has ben extremely high, so request a copy now to make sure you don’t miss out on the highly unusual printed piece.
Printed on a range of substrates, including white gloss, grey uncoated and repositionable transparent film, the piece explores the new tactile possibilities that high-quality digital print can offer. It demonstrates process by using both full colour and digital white ink combined with foiling and duplexed stocks. The brochure is mailed in a personalised handmade printed envelope.
Congratulations go to Roberto Beretta of Radley Yeldar and the Morgan Agency who both walked away with prizes at the Fedrigoni Top Application Awards. Roberto’s AYM review earned 3rd place in the Digital category and Morgan Agency won 3rd place in the Corporate Publishing category for their Derby University brochure. Both pieces were printed and finished in-house by Team.
Adidas Techfit brochure
MadeThought have designed a new promotional brochure for Adidas to showcase their Techfit range for women. The brochure, which displays beautiful colour photographs of the Staatsballet Berlin on the outer pages, is printed on 60g Offenbach bible paper (outer) and 270g Ebony Colorplan (inner).
Awards for Young Musicians Review
The latest AYM Annual Review,‘Giving talent a chance’, has been awarded ‘In-Book’ for D&AD 2011. Printed digitally by Team and designed by Roberto Beretta, with portraits taken by photographer Edward Webb, the brochure uses circular die cuts to highlight the name of talented young musicians funded by AYM.
Once the page is turned the die-cut becomes one of the instruments the young musicians are playing, reflecting an organisation that aims to have a transformative affect on young lives. Printed on 120gsm Indigo Premium Smooth uncoated.
This brochure for Cofra, designed by Mark Starbuck and Anthony Hodgson at Face Media, is a brilliant example of getting the most out of Team – using a combination of digital print, litho, foiling and hand finishing.
The slipcase and cover is Sirio Pietra 210gsm, silver foiled and hand finished in-house. The internal shortened pages are litho printed metallic silver on Sirio Pietra 140gsm with the main text pages digitally printed onto Splendorgel Digital 140gsm (all papers by Fedrigoni).
FS Pimlico brochure
Thompson Brand Partners have designed the collateral to accompany the launch of Fontsmith’s first new typeface of 2011, FS Pimlico.The booklet tells the story of the Fernando Mello designed font and also trails the upcoming Fontsmith marketing campaign, 10 Years in Type. The cover features abstract elements of the font in striking pastel shades and is printed on Colorplan Pistachio and Strathmore Writing Ultimate White. Copies of the booklet are now available from Fontsmith.
JD Sports Annual Report and Accounts
Another characteristically bold and imaginative Annual Report and Accounts from JD Sports. Printed, embossed and bound in-house by Team – featuring a fabulous selection of colours from the GF Smith Colorplan range (Ebony, Azure Blue, Pistachio, Fuchsia Pink, Sorbet Yellow, Smoke, Natural). Jilly Edwards brochure
Lawn Creative produced this fine catalogue for the textile weaver Jilly Edwards. Lawn’s choice of Fedrigoni’s Constellation Snow with Aida emboss for the cover, cleverly echoes the fabulously rich and vivid textural pieces inside.
This brochure for luxury sports car manufacturer, Spyker, is a cool and elegant piece of design. The Curious Skin cover with a silver foil and die-cut reflects the style and sophistication of the C8 Aileron brand which the brochure helped to launch.
The project was designed and managed by Andy Stobbs, Kathy Jones and Jason Ellams of Formula1brands – an agency which specialises in design for the automotive sector. Designer Andy Stobbs said his client was delighted with the result; ‘In projects like this our clients expect us, especially with our background and experience in the sector, to deliver innovative and exciting communications that generate enthusiasm and create impact. To do that we needed to work with a printer who could handle our production demands and Team were the obvious choice.’
Lee Cooper look-book
This Lee Cooper look-book was designed by 999 in Manchester and printed on 350gsm Stephen Sultry Grey and 130gsm Arctic Volume White, loop stitched with a gloss black foil to finish.
In collaboration with Keep Agency, Tom Hingston Studio produced this lovely publication, Tænker 001.Tænker is an ongoing project by Copenhagen based mobile phone company Æsir, exploring values and creativity in today’s world. Featuring a group of intellectuals from diverse disciplines, the project inspires a fascinating conversation about ideas, culture and society today. Printed on 80gsm Redeem Offset with a smaller Redeem gloss inner and stitched with three wires, the elegant layout and choice of bold colours on an off-white uncoated stock give the publication a strong sense of gravity and distinctiveness.
Christine Robertson, Print & Features editor of Bafta was delighted with Team’s great versatility and offering. ‘I got so much great feedback about the brochures, thank you so much for a great print job and really quick turnaround.’
Designed by Small, the programme has five different cover options and was printed on Consort from Howard Smith.
Emmerson Hodge fashion magazine
Issue one of the men’s fashion magazine Emmerson Hodge features the model Ryan Mertz. The new magazine, which will feature a different single model in each issue, is the work of creative director Ashley Hodge and photographer Nicky Emmerson. The magazine was printed on Ability Offset uncoated stock, which gives a warm, natural interpretation of the subject matter. A coating, or sealer was applied to provide protection and assist drying, especially important with the density of the colours used. Gold cover title foiled in-house by Team.
Press pack for Barbara Hulanicki’s wallpaper collection
As we always say at Team it’s the finishing touches that matter. Designed by Peter & Paul, this presentation box for Biba founder, Barbara Hulanicki’s wallpaper collection for Graham & Brown is beautifully finished off with a fine gloss black foil. Box produced by Team’s in-house presentation department on 350gsm Colorplan Vermillion. See more information about this fabulous wallpaper here.
The Lancasters property brochure
Team were very accommodating in helping MadeThought to produce this brochure for a luxury property development, The Lancasters. It features a heavyweight 6pp outer of 540gsm Colorplan Ebony duplexed onto 350gsm Colorplan White. And just to make the cover even heavier Team hand-glued 270gm Colorplan Bright White onto the front of each cover page. All mod cons, including intricate black and silver foils and interior furnished with a soft covering of 250gsm Naturalis Absolute Smooth White and 170gsm Ability Offset.
Angel Building property brochure
The Angel Building brochure, again designed by MadeThought, features an intricate gate-fold binding device, smartly designed to open up to a lovely view of an internally housed 8 page inner. Grand, spacious and beautifully layed out, this highly desirable piece must be viewed immediately. Printed on 130gsm and 250gsm Arctic Volume White.
London Fashion Week brochure
The dedicated followers of fashion in the Team finishing department donned their most fetching overalls to provide a solution to combine this two-part brochure and guide to London Fashion Week, designed by Music. A black elastic lanyard holds the completed item together. We like that look…
Blue print for success…
Put an imaginative designer together with a like-minded printer and what do you get? A fabulous brochure with blue foil and a specially mixed blue ink printed onto Colorplan Imperial blue. (See our Print School page on the new website for more creative suggestions for using different coloured foils) Studio Monkeys were over the moon with the result, as was their client. I’ll resist all corny temptation to describe the colour of that moon…
Crafts Council brochure
Craft is one of the words we are most fond of at Team so it was a pleasure to print this cool little Crafts Council Gallery Guide designed by OPX. The cover is printed on Fedrigoni Freelife Raster Emboss and the text is on Woodstock Camoscio.
JD Sports Annual Report and Accounts 2010
Team got their best trainers on and shot out of the blocks to produce this in personal-best time. The cover, printed on Colorplan Prisine White, features an exceptionally crisp embossed headline set in a caption balloon of clear foil and a silver foil title.

Double top for B&W Studio in Design Week Awards.
Leeds design agency, B&W Studio, took top prize in the annual reports category for their St.George’s Crypt Annual Report and 6 Accounts. The report, printed by Team, features large photographic portraits by John Angerson of six people closely connected to the charity which supports homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
The Crypt report also took the coveted Best In Show Award. Design Week Editor, Linda Relph Knight said the decision to award The Crypt with Best In Show ‘demonstrated how a blend of great design and storytelling can succeed when cash is tight.’
