• Book for Rankin/SEA

Featuring more than 70 images, Alive in the Face of Death sees renowned photographer Rankin set out to explore and challenge our perceptions of death. Through his lens, the stories of those touched by death are revealed in this touching new publication. They include people living with a terminal illness, those who have faced death and survived, and those who work within the death industry. Designed by SEA, this project is one of the most emotional pieces of print Team have produced in the last 13 years – it’s also one of the finest.

The book is printed 4 colour process plus metallic copper on to Munken Polar – allowing the image detail to be reproduced with the finest accuracy.

Case bound by Diamond Print Finishing with head and tail bands, this project is a true collaboration of stunning images, design and production.

Team have been lucky to be granted approval to produce a number of promotional copies of this book and have these available to give away free to selected clients. Please email if you’d like to request a book.

  • BCN/MCR Event Print

  • Battersea Power Station Property Brochures

Team recently worked with London design agency Heavenly on the production of two promotional books for one of the capitols most prestigious property developments at Battersea Power Station.

For the teaser brochure we treated a Greyboard with two layers of varnish to create a smooth concrete effect, visually similar to that of the building itself. It was printed on Munken Polar and bound using copper rivets that were chemically treated to make an exact colour match. The Residential Book was case-bound in cloth with a copper foiled plaque mounted into a debossed area on the front. The text was printed in 4 colour process plus a metallic cover ink onto Arctic Matt paper.
  • Gerald Cinamon book: SEA

Graphic Design Gerald Cinamon’ is a new book designed by SEA. Cinamon is an American graphic designer and typographer who was the Chief Designer a Penguin Books. He studied under both Paul Rand and Armin Hofmann. He is also credited with bringing the Swiss design style to the UK. In his honour, Team were delighted to be asked to produce this stunning book, expertly designed by Danny McNeil at SEA.

The book was lithographically printed 4 colour process plus a special Pantone red that was integrated into all the CMYK images to create a 5 colour separation. It was printed on Munken Polar paper and PUR bound with an 8 page gate-fold cover.

  • 16 Wyndham Place book: Phage

The ability to combine off-line finishing processes along with digital printing was the reason Phage chose Team to produce this property book. 52 pages of text digitally printed with our HP Indigo 7000 onto Zen showed off the images perfectly.

This was combined with a paper over board cover, wrapped in Corvon Metal X and gold foil blocked and lined with Corvon Iridescent Silver. The text section was then swiss bound using a Wicotex cloth to finish.

  • Brazzaville Protocol agenda: Richard Attias & Associates

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Brazzaville Protocol, Richard Attias & Associates (New York) have produced a 2014 agenda to compliment the achievements of this protocol. The production management and planning in this project left no room for error and required the efforts of not only Team resources, but regular contact and discussion with the client in New York. Richard Attias & Associates required the services of Team to advise on materials and techniques which would enhance the overall look and feel of the brochure itself.

The agenda was produced as a case bound book with a Winter & Co. material used on the outer cover, debossed with the company logo. The inner leaves were printed on a premium uncoated with all pages gilded in silver to enhance the finished piece.

Timings and distribution of the brochure were critical to its success, as transportation to the Congo itself required careful planning and execution. Through Team’s network of distribution channels we were able to meet the criteria of our client and deliver the goods ahead of schedule.

  • British Fashion Council books: Music

Team continues it’s long standing relationship with leading Manchester design agency Music and British Fashion Council by producing two new projects – the guide book for London Fashion Week (Autumn / Winter) and the book, London Collections: Men 2013.

The London Fashion Week guide book features cover illustrations by designer Manolo Blahnik on Colorplan Pristine White with a ‘pebble’ embossing. This 148 page perfect bound book was printed four colour process with black foil blocking on the cover. This is the 3rd consecutive year Team has produced the literature for this event.

The London Collections: Men book showcases Team’s full in-house services. 72 pages of text, quarter bound in red cloth, with front and back covers made from 3000 micron greyboard. The front cover is clear foil blocked and incorporates a recessed area containing a hand inserted custom pin badge. All the text pages were angle cut (replicating a key element of the event identity) to create a housing for the back of the badge.

The book also features a custom pocket on the inside back cover to contain additional literature, also produced by Team for the event.

  • Postcards from Europe

Manchester designer Katrina Currie was delighted with the quality of digital print for the fascinating book ‘Postcards from Europe’ project. ‘We looked at digital as a way of maximising a tight budget and were absolutely delighted with the result,’ explained Currie. ‘The quality of print we got from Team’s digital department has completely changed our perception of digital print.’

The 64 page brochure, printed on Colorplan Grey and perfect bound by Team explains the project and showcases some of the 64 postcards commissioned from young, emerging artists from around Europe, showing images which reveal real truths about where they live and work and their relationship to their environment.

The publication also features interviews with international artists including Mark Lazenby, Riita Ikonen, Sophia Martineck and Antony Zinonsos, as well as interviews with every other artist who participated in the project.

  • Haunch of Venison, Barber Osgerby book

  • The Biltmore Hotel

Superb quality, luxuriously finished with an expert eye on the details that matter. Does this apply to (a) The Biltmore Hotel… or (b) The design and production of the book. Answer… both-!! Designed by Curious, this oversize case-bound book and slip case was printed and hand finished in-house by Team. The brochure and slip case were covered in Suedel Luxe Les Classiques Flannel and the text pages were french folded (printed both sides) on 148gm Mohawk Superfine Smooth White. The cover and alternate pages were individually foiled in gunmetal silver.

  • Good enough to eat… but you’d need a very big plate!

Truth designed this 25th anniversary book for the Authentic Food Company. The limited edition book was hand finished and foiled in-house by Team, who also produced the bespoke outer.

The book was extremely well received by the client, so much so that Team were then asked to produce a very short run A2 version for the company reception showpiece, Team produced the text pages on their Acuity large-format digital printer.

  • Clarity Surveillance book

Mark McGrath Design’s challenge was to develop a brand identity and new corporate book that communicated precisely the qualities of their client, Clarity Surveillance, a provider of discrete surveillance services.

Mark was delighted with the result; ‘We wanted to convey a lot of quite strong messages about the values of the brand, such as clarity, professionalism and impartiality but most crucially the fact that the company needs to remain ‘invisible’ at all times. Team were very helpful in helping me to achieve the result I wanted by the best use of processes and finishing’.

The choice of white foil blocking on white stock puts the message of invisibility across perfectly; only when the light falls across the page in exactly the right way does the complete message reveal itself in it’s true context with the printed metallic blue  ‘double I’ of the identity. The result is distinctly visible; a case-bound, singer sewn book that is an impressive combination of intelligent design and fine attention to print and finishing detail. Printed on FSC stocks.

  • Location, location, location…

Northbank Design reached their customary high standards with this prestigious case-bound book for Chiswick Park London. Finished in-house by Team with a black foil onto Brillianta cloth, it’s a piece of grace and distinction with a bright spacious interior, beautifully furnished with exquisite printing on Consort Matt.

Designers talk about Process is Form at Manchester event
The Manchester event will feature a talk by Design Project, the designers of the book, on the thinking behind the project which analyses the relationship between the process and mechanics of print production and the practice of design and communication.

Practical and informative, but beautifully designed and printed, the book provides an excellent platform to show off Team’s printing capabilities and also demonstrates their keenness to get ‘stuck in’ to help designers realise their printed projects, no matter how complicated they may be. The extensive use of special colours (24 colours, plus different foils and finishes throughout) really gives a taste of the comprehensive print and finishing services Team can offer.

So if you want to find out more about how a highly complex book of this nature comes together, make sure you don’t miss this one-off opportunity to hear the designers talk specifically about the project.

Special discount offer for event attendees
This limited edition book will be available at a special discounted price of five pounds at the events and will be on general release from Team at a price of twenty pounds following the London launch. What others are saying about Process is Form
‘…it blew me away. Both the design and the print is exquisite. You would expect nothing less I suppose from the combined efforts of Design Project and Team Impression.’ Eight:48.

  • Let your fingers do the talking…

This catalogue for Haunch Of Venison galleries deserves its pride of place in this month’s showcase for the great combination of excellent printing and foiling on a delectable choice of papers from the GF Smith collection. The choice of the wonderfully smooth Beckett Expression for the dust jacket particularly caught the eye of the paper-obsessed editor of this e-bulletin.

With a Colorplan Coltskin embossed cover and Naturalis Smooth Recycled text pages, this provided the perfect canvas for Team to show off their foiling and printing craftsmanship. Spin’s Natasha Day explains why they chose Team for this job; ‘We had to design and print the book pretty quickly and with this in mind we thought we wouldn’t be able to have any special finishes. However, Team managed to turn the job around quickly and we were able to use a gold foil on the dust jacket and cover. We were very pleased with the final result and the images reproduced extremely well on the Naturalis.’

It’s a piece we’d recommend you pick up, close your eyes and quietly drift off on a wave off smoothness and texture (but not for too long, we wouldn’t want you to miss our excellent printing or Spin’s superb design).

  • We really like ‘Stuff We Really Like’.

Almost 800 pages long, (yes, that’s eight hundred), Music’s case bound promo book grew ever so slightly from the 32 pager they first intended to produce. Team met the challenge, producing the 32 thread sewn sections with foiled hard cover to Music’s usual meticulous specification.

    Matt Beardsell of Music explains the thinking behind the book;

‘At Music we like a list, as you’ll know if you’ve visited our website recently. The idea for this book started life as a very short list of stuff we really like, compiled by people who work at Music. Before we knew it we had a list so long we could have written a whole book. So we did.

Although the book has ended up 760 pages longer than first planned, we’ve had a lot of fun pulling it together, finding out more about each other and realising how much we have in common (although debates over milk chocolate digestives vs dark chocolate digestives will rage on).

So, with very little (if any) editing the full list of Stuff We Really Like is now out there. The initial response to it has been great and we’re encouraging friends and colleagues to point out anything we’ve missed for inclusion in volume 2.’

Text printed on Munken Pure, endpapers on Stephen Innocent White. The run of 500 books was divided into three different paper over board and dust jacket options.

  • Print matters (but needn’t cost the earth).

In line with their broader environmental policy, Team now carries FSC/recycled paper as standard everyday printing stocks. These high quality, high performance stocks are offered for use on all  appropriate projects unless other branded papers are specified by the client. We carry FSC Gloss, Silk and Uncoated or Recyled FSC Gloss, Silk and Uncoated in a comprehensive range of weights. And because of the volumes involved in carrying them as standard stock it won’t cost you any more.  But you’ll make a real saving on your environmental footprint.

To order Print Matters, our handy little booklet showing printed samples of each grade and a full explanation of how we take our environmental responsibilities seriously, email Simon Bucktrout.

  • New Team book goes to press.

  • Team produce digitally printed book for Blast.

Printed on a variety of Arjowiggins digital stocks, the book entitled Inspired by Design features work from ten leading practitioners in the visual arts, including John Ross, Bruno Maag, Jeremy Tankard and Vince Frost.

As part of the same campaign for Arjowiggins, Blast also produced a new swatch for their digital range of papers. The print brief presented interesting challenges for Team’s Indigo operators and finishing department. Giff, Blast’s Design Director, was impressed with Team’s response. ‘Paper swatches can be tricky briefs at the best of times, with their particular layout and binding issues. We knew our idea to spread a full-colour image over a wide variety of uncoated and coated digital stocks would require some serious attention to detail at the print stage.’ This is where Team’s comprehensive in-house facilities and experienced operators came to the fore. ‘We were very pleased with the result,’ Giff commented. ‘Not only with the quality
of print and finishing, but also with the way Team responded, offering invaluable advice at every stage right up to the binding.’

Inspired by Design has been shortlisted for the Design Week Awards 2010.

  • Team print promotional book for Golden.

Leeds based agency, Golden, chose Team to print Golden Moments, a book that uses a series of diverse images which capture and record their successful first year in business.

Golden wanted a printer with a focus on attention to detail that matched their own and they were delighted with the result. The cover of the perfect bound book features a delicately detailed foil. The fine text and tiny reversed logo on the slip cover is printed in opaque gold on 120gsm Colorit Black. The text and cover pages are printed on Tauro.
